Abstract
Our study aims to evaluate the various correlations between demographic, biochemical, ultrasonographical, ovarian stimulation parameters and the percentage of mature oocytes during a conventional stimulation for IVF/ICSI cycles. So a predictive model can be made to improve our understanding of the oocyte maturation process. We performed a retrospective cohort study; patients underwent a conventional antagonist ovarian stimulation protocol for fresh IVF/ICSI cycles. Were included a total of 256 IVF/ICSI cycles, Age, antral follicle count (AFC), serum basal Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), serum basal luteinizing hormone (LH), serum basal estradiol (E2), peak estradiol, P4 on hCG day, body mass index (BMI) and stimulation duration were measured. All these variables were correlated with the number of retrieved oocytes (#RO), the number of mature oocytes (#MO) and the backward stepwise method from the linear regression model were performed to identify the variables that correlated the most with the percentage of mature oocytes (%MO). And a predictive equation was obtained with the variables that were not excluded in the model. % MO = 72.700 – 0.910 (Age) + 0.979 (BMI) + 1.209 (Baseline serum LH) – 0.647 (P4 on hCG day). We conclude that age, BMI, baseline serum LH and P4 on hCG day can be predictive of the %MO. Moreover, more prospective studies are needed to validate this predictive equation.
