Abstract
Male infertility accommodates about 30% of the causes of couple infertility and became a public health problem. Male infertility could be due to several factors that can occur in isolation or in association in the context of several complex syndromes. Despite the importance of seminal analysis in the initial investigation of marital infertility, it is estimated that 15% of infertile men present normal sperm, or that suggests the importance of the most useful complementary tests for the complete investigation of infertility. Further studies are needed to determine exactly the factors that alter the quality of the ejaculate. In addition to the analysis of seminal parameters, a genetic issue has been drawing attention. The incorporation of diagnostic methods, such as protection, genetic, and the routine of the andrology laboratory, is important for the further improvement in the conduct of human reproduction techniques. The present study describes an update of the main methodologies for investigating male infertility.
