Abstract
A rare clinical case of acrania without anencephaly is reported in a primary triplet pregnancy after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). A 26 year-old woman was referred for assisted fertilization due to tubal and male factors. The pregnancy was achieved at the first attempt. One embryo did not develop after 12 weeks, the second one evolved with acrania and the pregnancy was interrupted at 16 weeks due to polyhydramnios and uterine contractions. At 39 weeks of pregnancy, the patient gave birth a female infant weighing 2.480 grams, through a Caesarian section because of placental insufficiency. As acrania is a rare affection, the literature is reviewed and we report the first case after an ICSI.
