Comparison of Ovarian Stimulation with Recombinant FSH After 2nd Phase Protocols with GnRH Analogs (l – estradiol + Ganirelix Versus ll – Nafarelin)

Abstract

Introduction:The objective of this study was to compare the ovarian stimulation with recombinant FSH after the use of two protocols with analogs of the GnRH, both starting in the luteal phase: A–estradiol+ganirelix(GnRH antagonist) versus B– nafarelin(GnRH agonist). Methods and Materials:A total of 20 patients without specific ovulatory disfunction aged ≤ 37, that would be submitted to ovarian stimulation, were divided in a randomized way in two groups. Group A(n=14): ln the 21st day of the menstrual cycle, a dose of 4mgl day of estradiol valerato was started and continued for 14 days. lf the menstruation has started in this period, the administration of recombinant FSH(Puregon, Organon) was started one day after the end of estradiol valerato in a fixed dose of 150-300 Ul. ln the 6th day of the administration of recombinant FSH, was started the ecografic control of the stimulus and ganirelix(Organolutran, Organon) was taken in a dose of 0.25 mg/day when the follicular diameter was 15mm, and continued until the day of the hCG administration. Group B (n=6): ln the 21st day of the menstrual cycle, a dose of 200µg of nafarelin acetato was taken through nasal twice a day. After 14 days of administration of the agonist, with the blockage establishment (menstruation), the administration of recombinant FSH was started in a fixed dose of 150-300Ul for a period of 5 days. ln the 6th day of the recombinant FSH administration, the ecografic monitorization of the follicular development was started.
