Abstract
This paper discusses the Brazilian legislative debate on new reproductive technologies. The bill 1184/2003, recently approved by Federal Senate, is analyzed with three others bills: 2855/1997, from Deputy Confúcio Moura (PMDB/RO); 120/2003 from Deputy Roberto Pessoa (PFL/CE); 2061/2003 from Deputy Maninha (PT/DF). The purpose of this paper is to analyze four questions in the bills: the access to new reproductive technologies; the number of embryos transferred in each cycle; the kinship definitions; and the embryos destination. The perspective is that Brazil will have a federal law on new reproductive technologies in 2004.
