Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence of Nitric Oxide (NO) in the pathogenesis of inflammation in endometriosis. The peritoneal fluid and the serum from 65 patients undergoing laparoscopy because pathologies including endometriosis were examined from March 1999 to August 2000. The peritoneal fluid was aspirated from the Douglas pouch and the serum was frozen. The NO production detected through spectrophotometry pointed to increased rates in early stages endometriosis (stage I ASRM- revised).
