ABSTRACT: The recognition and acceptance of psychological care in Assisted Human Reproduction treatments are growing in many specialized services available in Brazil. The need for psychological parameters guiding the practice of medicine in this field motivated the 1st Brazilian Consensus on Assisted Human Reproduction in Psychology, within the 16th Brazilian Congress on Assisted Reproduction in Guarujá, Brazil, in August 2012. METHOD: The present study reports the unusual experience of the consensus that brought together sixteen professionals specialized in this area of Health Psychology, from various regions of the country, to its discussion. In an innovative way, the Consensus was held initially in the virtual environment, from five major themes that incorporate psychological care to reproductive treatments: Psychological Assessment of the patient infertile, Psychological Intervention in Infertility, Uterus replacement and its repercussions, and Gamete Donation repercussions, current Issues: embryo adoption, gay couples, using semen postmortem, egg freezing, independent production, childless life. RESULTS: After the virtual discussion, the conclusions of each topic were presented in Congress, opening the debate provided an opportunity for the participation and contribution of the public interested in the development of consensual guiding parameters of psychological practice in RHA
