OBJECTIVES: to relate the FSH, LH, AMH and E2 levels, the age, body mass index and the antral follicle count (AFC), with the number of retrieved oocytes in infertile patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). METHODS: This was a transversal descriptive study, which included 96 patients diagnosed with infertility, undergoing IVF. For each patient, we determine the age, weight and height, basal FSH, LH, AMH and E2 levels, and the AFC. The variables were related using the nonparametric Spearman correlation coefficient. A P-value <0.05 was considered significant. RESULTS: We found a positive asso- ciation between the AFC (R = 0.718, P = 0.0001), and AMH levels (0.625, P = 0.0001), in relation to the number of retrieved oocytes. Also, we found a negative relation between patient’s age (R = -0.403, P = 0.0001) FSH levels (r = -0.478, P = 0.0001), and the number of retrieved oocytes. CONCLUSIONS: The best predictors for the number of retrieved oocytes were the AFC, the basal AMH and FSH levels and patient’s age.
