Reproductive rights are part of human rights and the right to found a family and the right to live autonomy privacy must be protected by the countries. The Federal Council of Medicine in Brazil is aware and actively working, not insensitive to the requirements and implications of the demands of society. The Technical Chamber on ART, in which participates the President of SBRA, Adelino Amaral, has been evaluating the need to update the Resolution no. 1957/2010, the existing rule that guides our practice in the country. new technologies, methods, the relevance of its applicability, as well as discussions on ethical issues related to medical practice are under discussion. Likewise, the CFM, and the 27 regional councils of Medicine (CRMs) of the country deliberated in March 2013, by the majority position that represents 400,000 Brazilian doctors, with respect to the expansion of the exclusionary illegal activity criminal in case of interruption of pregnancy. They stood in favor of the empowerment of women and the doctor, in case of termination of pregnancy before 12 weeks, although carefully emphasizing that “this was not an open decision just in favor of abortion”. For sure there will come further discussion in the Brazilain Congress. In any case, unsafe abortion as well as the lack of access to assisted reproduction will be on the agenda.
