P-133. Impact of Implementing Performance Indicators in an Assisted Reproduction Laboratory: A Strategy for Continuous Improvement and Team Engagement
1 Bios Centro de Medicina Reprodutiva – Fortaleza -CE - Brasil
Objective: The pursuit of excellence in laboratory results in assisted reproduction requires more than technical protocols: it requires a structured quality management approach. In this context, the use of key performance indicators (KPIs) allows for systematic monitoring of processes, promoting continuous improvement and team engagement. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of implementing laboratory performance indicators in an assisted reproduction clinic, considering technical and organizational aspects.
Methods: Comparative observational study carried out in a quality-certified clinic. Clinical and laboratory KPIs were defined and monitored monthly through spreadsheets and team meetings. The period analyzed comprised 12 months before and 12 months after the implementation of the critical assessment routine of the indicators. Data were analyzed regarding the percentage variation in technical results and team perception.
Results: The analysis revealed significant improvements in parameters such as fertilization rate, blastocyst rate and and reduction in the occurrence of non-conformities. Team adherence to protocols increased, which was reflected in the standardization of routines. The perception of engagement and belonging also improved, with the team reporting greater clarity about their impact on results.
Conclusion: Management based on indicators strengthens the culture of quality in the assisted reproduction laboratory, promotes shared responsibility and enables early interventions. Team involvement in decision-making processes and continuous critical analysis of data are effective strategies to raise the technical and human standards of the service.
