Abstract

Introduction: Percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA) has been broadly discussed in several papers. Different points are related to the number of spermatozoa, age of patients and incidence of azoospermia findings. In the present paper, we have studied those characteristics and we have showed the impatience technical for 10 years. Material and Methods: A total of 265 patients were submitted to percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration in ambulatorial level with place anesthesia. Parallels, we have done a clinic study of infertility etiology and analysis of the number in laboratory. Results: In 229 cases we had obstructive azoospermia (86,41%) as follows 101 vasectomized (44,10%). In 34 cases we had non-obstructive azoospermia (12,83%), 1 Kartagener syndrome (0,38%) and 1 injuries medullar (0,38%). Conclusion: The obstructive azoospermia was present in the majority of cases. Interesting cases of cystic fibrosis, Kartagener syndrome and injuries medullar were related. On the other hand, the findings of number of spermatozoa were much variable. Finally, we concluded that percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration needs to be more emphasized with the progress and advances of testicular-epididymal anatomy physiology studies.
