A lot of research has been done on the importance of sperm on the embryo development. This analysis shows some causes and paternal effects of this importance, on the embryo development. The damage of the spermatozoa’s DNA molecule does not necessarily avoid the fertilization, as it is still capable of forming a normal pronuclei after intracytoplamatic sperm injection (ICSI). However, the genomic imprinting and DNA fragmentation can lead to consequences. This study demonstrates the importance of evaluating not only the morphological aspects but the spermatozoa’s genetic and epigenetic aspects in the treatment of infertile couples with recurrent miscarriage as well.
