Abstract
Endometriosis is a disease defined as the presence of endometrial tissue outside uterine cavity. Despite it has been first associated in 1927 with pelvic anatomic abnormalities, its precise pathogenesis is still unknow. Multiple theories were considered as retrograde menstruation and and coelomic metaplasia. More recently, functional changes in immunological components have been investigated among women with endometriosis as disfuntion in natural killers cells, monocytes, macrophages, lynphocytes and cytokines.
