Abstract

The development of assisted reproduction techniques has allowed women who present severe urogenital anomalies to avoid childlessness and to use their own gametes to generate a child through the use of temporary donation of uterus. In this work we describe the use of the methodology in a patient with Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome. Ovulation was inducted after synchronization of menstrual cycles by using a long protocol with hipofisary blockade. After the treatment, the follicles were aspirated under ecographic monitoring and the methaphase II oocytes were submitted to Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). After evaluation, the preembryos with compatible embryonic development were transferred to the uterus of the receptor under ultrasonographic monitoring. The gestation culminates with the birth of a healthy and phenotypically normal child. The association between techniques of attended reproduction and the use of temporary donation of uterus constitute an efficient strategy to allow patients with severe urogenital alterations to reach pregnancy and constitute a family.
