Abstract

The technique of embryo transfer is a step of extreme importance in the outcome of assisted reproductive technology cycles. The authors make a review of some important aspects of this technique and emphasize that several precautions should be taken, in order to achieve high implantation and pregnancy rates. They conclude that an adequate control of cervical infections, the removal of cervical mucus, the mock transfer, the utilization of a soft catheter and ultrasound-guided embryo transfer may improve implantation and pregnancy rates.
