Abstract

Before commencing any treatment, doctors must inform patients of all material, psychic and physical risks of the treatment. Through retrospective analysis of 721 informed consents from patients in ICSI cycles, the aim of this work was to show real infertile couple profile in our service. Informed consents acquired during 22 months were revised. Patients' choices concerning exceeding embryos and oocytes future were some analyzed data, as well as change of mind in those couples with 2 or more ICSI cycles. Our results have shown the importance of informed consent in human reproductive technologies. These "instructions for the future" are valuable, though limited, tool to share the responsibility of the couple and fertility center.
