The authors evaluated retrospectively the results of embryo transfers carried out in the operating theatre under sterile conditions, close to the gamete handling laboratory (group I), and in the examination rooms not contiguous to the laboratory (group II). There were not statistically significant differences in pregnancy and implantation rates between these two groups. It is concluded that performing embryo transfers in a room not contiguous to the gamete handling laboratory does not have an adverse effect on the embryos and does not influence the pregnancy and implantation rates.
