Abstract

Due to advances in technological and medical care, the patient with spinal cord injury now has the ability to bear its own offspring and improve the quality of life. A part of these patients is infertile due to bad semen quality and ejaculatory disfunction, so physicians must be aware in ways to overcome these problems. We reviewed the normal and pathological pathways in the mechanism of spermatogenesis and ejaculatory function in spinal cord injured patients. Methods of obtaining sperm are discussed and critically assessed as w ell as current accepted ways in assisted fertilization.
