Abstract
Introduction : The value of artificial insemination with husband's sperm (AIHS) for the correction of male or female subfertility is still a matter of debate. The
objective of lhe present study was to evaluate the performance of an AIHS program in our unit.
Material and Methods: A total of 134 AIHS cycles were performed. The protocol involved a cycle stimulated with gonadotropins, sperm washing on a discontinuous Percoll gradient and a single insemination per cycle.
Results: The clinical pregnancy rate per cycle was 8.2% (11pregnancies in 134 cycles) and the abortion rate was 18.1%.
Conclusion: Although the pregnancy rates obtained with AIHS are low, there is room for their use before the use of invasive assisted reproduction techniques such as GIFT or IVF
