Abstract

Introduction : Communicate the results of the Oocyte Sharing Donation Program from the association of a public hospital and a private clinic, emphasizing its social contribution. Material and Methods: Basically, the program consists of the donation from patients with indication for oocyte reception (recipient women) of the drugs to the ovarian stimulation to patients with precise indication of in vitro fertilization (donors) but without the financial conditions for that. The latter share half of the retrieved oocytes with the recipient women to be inseminated with their husband's sperms. The other half of the oocytes are inseminated with the donor husband sperms. When only six or less oocytes are aspirated, all of them are inseminated with their donor's husband sperms. Patients were treated with leuprolide acetate, followed by donor ovarian stimulation with hMG and/or FSH and recipients endometrium prepared with estradiol valerate. Thirty cycles of 25 donor and 35 cycles of 25 recipient patients were analyzed. The mean age of the donors was 30,4 years and of the recipients 40.2 years. Results: Sixteen recipient cycles resulted in clinical pregnancies (45.7% pregnancies per cycle, and 64.0% per recipient patient). The rate of recipient clinical loss was 25.0% (our out of 16). Between donors there were 13 cycles with clinical pregnancies (43.3 % pregnancies per cycle and 52.0% per patient). The rate of recipient clinical loss was 15.4% (two out of 13). Conclusion: An Oocyte Sharing Donation Program with IVF represents a valid alternative since, besides providing satisfactory pregnancy rates through in vitro fertilization for both donors and recipients, it also has significant social importance, enabling the public service to provide a high cost solution to patients of lower income.
