Abstract

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare two ovarian stimulation protocols to find which one is more efficient to promote pregnancies. Material e Methods: This prospective study was carried out in Clinimater, Human Reproduction Service, in January/94 to December/95. Fifty andfour patients were pituitary suppressed by GnRH analogue and ovarian stimulated by hMG and 63 patients were treated with Clomiphene Cytrate and hMG. Results: The mean oocyte collected was higher in GnRH group (13.0±8,14) than in CC group (5.38±3.12). This was true for the mean of transfered embryos either (4.09±2.28 and 2.62±2.10 respectively). Pregnancy rates per cycle were 29. 6% in GnRH group, and 14.5% in CC group, not statistically di./ferent. Conclusion: Despite the higher expenses and time consuming in GnRH protocol, it must be preferably because of its higher efficiency to promote pregnancy than CC protocolo On the other hand, CC protocol must not be discarded and may be useful to couples that have only this way to take part in a IVF program
